President Obama and Marriage Equality

President Obama’s historic announcement this week regarding Marriage Equality was enlightening and particularly welcome, coming on the heels of the disheartening news of North Carolina’s endorsement of Amendment One. In light of the President’s “evolving attitude” on gay marriage, I wanted to recognize a few of my LGBT clients who are pledging their commitment to each other and tying the knot this year. Karina & Derek | Westmount CC Wedding

Karina & Derek’s wedding at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, NJ, was the perfect way to start off the wedding season! The weather was fantastic for early March, Raul of Ultrafonk Entertainment had everyone dancing the Salsa, and I couldn’t ask for a nicer couple to work with. Congratulations and I’m looking forward to working on the album with you!

I had the pleasure of photographing Jay and Victoria at the historic Hoboken Terminal for their engagement portraits. They are a delight to work with, and I’m really looking forward to their wedding in 2012! Hoboken is such a cool place (except for the parking) but I have more and more couples request their portraits there. It’s always a challenge to find new and interesting spaces to work in, especially when the area is very familiar. It seems that each time I work there, I see something different so it remains one of my favorite locales. The terminal waiting room reminds me of a movie set with the beautiful stained glass ceiling and period lighting fixtures, and the neighboring streets are always full of surprises.

Here are just a few of my favorite images from Claire & David’s wedding. The reception, at The Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, New Jersey, was the perfect setting on a perfect day. The patio, overlooking the Navesink River, provided a gorgeous backdrop for formals and cocktails, while the reception was rocked by The Amish Outlaws. All in all, one of the best weddings this year!

Eileen & Kurt ~ New York Engagement Session

Wow – sitting here catching up on some production work, and felt the floor tremble! Turns out it was an earthquake, so I guess I better hurry and update the blog!

Eileen and Kurt are two of the most fun-loving people I’ve met and Washington Square Park was the perfect setting for their engagement portraits. The magnificent fountain near the arch kept drawing my attention and when we were finished with some dry shots, I suggested a little dip in the water. They loved the idea and were like little kids again. I have to admit the spray from the water felt good on a hot summer day, too. Afterwards, we strolled down one of the cobblestone alleys for some more romantic moments. If their October wedding is anything like the engagement session – well, I can’t wait!

New York Celebrates Marriage Equality

Over a thousand people were on hand as 46 couples were married yesterday at Carlyle on the Green as New York’s Marriage Equality law took effect. It was an amazing event, and a privilege to witness a part of history. Congratulations to all the couples!

Just got in a new sample album with some of my favorite wedding portraits from 2010. The cover image is printed on brushed aluminum, and finished with a full leather spine and back. At 12×18, with 24×18 spreads, it is quite impressive! I designed it panoramic-style, so each spread is just one image, displayed big. Paired with it is a custom album box, with the cover image printed on canvas. It is a great way to store an album when it isn’t on display, and a fine complement to these family heirlooms.

This impressive album opens to 24×18 spreads, with each image filling the entire spread. Jessica & Chad celebrated their New Year’s Day wedding at Seasons in Washington Township, NJ.

This album features one of my all-time favorite covers, a classic black leather with gold accents. The night-time portrait under twinkle lights made this the perfect cover image for Lauren & Sean, who celebrated their marriage at The Beacon Hill Club in Summit, NJ.

It’s been a busy few weeks, with lots of client meetings and designing new sample albums. Now it’s time to update the blog! Here is the first installment of my favorite highlights from 2010, Nicolette and Rob’s beautiful October wedding at Laurita Winery in New Egypt, New Jersey. For anyone looking for a unique venue with striking views, mouth-watering food, and a great staff, Laurita Winery has it all. Kudos to Ken at Narcissus Florals, who did a spectacular job with the centerpieces, blending colors and textures with the natural surroundings.

Ardmore Mansion Wedding, Mountain View Manor – Glen Spey, NY

I knew Becca and Rich’s wedding would be intimate and fun, and when they told me it was set on a mountaintop in Glen Spey, NY, I was thrilled. The Ardmore Mansion was recently renovated and its location seems almost like a destination wedding, even though it’s less than two hours from North Jersey. The last leg of the drive winds along the Delaware River, until the turn on aptly-named High Road takes you up to the estate, also known as Mountain View Manor. It is, quite simply, a perfect place for a wedding, with a wide wrap-around porch, acres of grounds, a lake, and stately white birches and pines, all overlooking rolling hills.
